Glennda Chui has been a reporter for the San Jose Mercury News since 1984, and has covered all aspects of science for the paper since 1986. She has a bachelor's degree in biological science and a master's degree in journalism. She was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT in 1988-89, is a past president of the Northern California Science Writers' Association, and teaches in the Science Communication Program at UC-Santa Cruz. Her honors include a staff Pulitizer Prize for coverage of the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1990 and the American Geophysical Union's David Perlman Award for excellence in science journalism.
