Mission
Statement: The primary objective
of the Santa Fe Symphony Chorus is to perform choral literature written for
chorus and orchestra at the highest level of mastery.
Auditioning Singers Ð
please read and confirm your willingness to abide by the following protocol.
1. You will make every effort to attend every Chorus rehearsal, arriving promptly at the agreed time. A minimum number of required rehearsals will be defined for each repertory. Failure to attend that number of rehearsals and all the concert week rehearsals may make you ineligible to sing in concerts*.
You will report any planned absences to the attendance supervisor of the Symphony Chorus. At the beginning of each season, you will be provided with a current list of Symphony Chorus contacts that includes attendance supervisor contact information. If you are going to miss a repertory, or leave the group, you will notify the current attendance supervisor and the Chorus Director in writing.
2. If you accept a membership position in the chorus, you will pay any membership dues assessed for the season. Current dues for the Symphony Chorus are $35 payable within the first two weeks of the rehearsal season, if you plan to perform in 2 or more concerts during the entire season; or $20 if you will perform in only 1 concert during the entire season. Funds are used to purchase or rent chorus scores and sheet music, offer vocal workshops, purchase study recordings, for occasional social gatherings and other uses that benefit the group collectively.
Membership in the Symphony Chorus is on an Òat willÓ basis. No contract rights, or obligations for either the member, or the Symphony are conferred by such participation.
3. If you accept a contract position in the chorus, you will abide by the rehearsal and performance requirements specified in your contract. You will follow absence request procedures as defined in your contract. You will know the performance work in its entirety prior to your first rehearsal. You agree to follow the rehearsal and performance protocol defined in the organizationÕs Chorister Handbook.
4. You will follow the dress code for concerts as defined below:
5. For the sake of fellow choristers that may be afflicted by asthma, or suffer from chemical sensitivities, you will not use scented grooming products of any type. You will not wear any perfume, cologne, after-shave lotions, or hair spray to rehearsals or during performances.
6. You will treat others with respect and courtesy. To ensure a productive rehearsal atmosphere, you will refrain from talking during rehearsals.
7. You will diligently prepare the music for the upcoming concerts. The rehearsal schedule itemizes the order that music will be covered in rehearsals. You will organize your scores with measure numbers and index tabs when appropriate for easy access and movement.
8. Each singer is expected to re-audition each year to remain in the Chorus. The Chorus Director will re-audition singers. The Chorus Director will have final word about the participation of any singer.
* Exceptions may be made for professional conflicts only should the concert week rehearsal schedule change within 2 weeks of its beginning.
